BEIJING, July 2, 2026 —— The National Symposium on Collaborative Development of China’s Domestic AI ASIC Customization Industry was successfully held in Beijing recently. Under the theme “Strengthen Chip Foundation, Build a Shared Ecosystem”, the event gathered representatives from government authorities, industry associations, research institutes and enterprises across the industrial chain to explore pathways for domestic computing power system construction and coordinated industrial development. Helen Chai, Managing Director of CIC, was invited to attend the symposium and presented the report AI Reshapes Chips, Customization Leads the Future – AI ASIC Industry Insight Report on site.
Grounded in CIC’s extensive industrial database, in-depth frontline research and long-term industry foresight, the report delivers authoritative data support and forward-looking strategic references for all participants across the industrial chain.

During the symposium, Helen Chai integrated the iteration rules of the AI industry with the upgrading trend of computing power architecture to elaborate on the core findings of the report. She systematically dissected the current development landscape and future opportunities of China’s domestic AI ASIC industry from four dimensions: application upgrading, architecture transformation, industrial chain restructuring and market opportunities.
Helen Chai pointed out that the AI industry is undergoing comprehensive upgrades across four dimensions, which are fundamentally reshaping the demand system of the chip industry. Application patterns have evolved from single-point, single-round interactive functions to multi-agent collaborative workflows; deployment architectures have shifted from centralized cloud-only deployment to distributed cloud-edge-end collaborative deployment; model systems have transitioned from independent operation of single models to collaborative optimization of general foundation models, industry-specific models and lightweight end-side models; and industry requirements have elevated from basic computing power compliance to high standards for comprehensive performance including latency, throughput, power consumption and stability. These shifts are continuously driving AI chips toward customization, specialization and scenario-specific development.

Furthermore, the growing complexity of AI industry demands is restructuring the division of labor in the integrated circuit industry chain. The drawbacks of the traditional single-chip hardware delivery model have become increasingly prominent, while software-hardware integrated solutions and full-process chip customization services have emerged as the industry mainstream.
A clear three-tier division of labor system has taken shape in the sector: AI terminal enterprises focus on algorithm and scenario innovation; professional chip customization service providers act as the core hub by connecting resources across the entire industrial chain; and wafer manufacturing, packaging and testing enterprises concentrate on process implementation. The trend of specialized industrial collaboration is growing more evident. China’s chip customization service track is witnessing explosive growth, and domestic service enterprises have broad growth space driven by both domestic substitution and booming scenario-specific demands.
